Most of the people here are really cool and it's been an amazing time so far. I'd say that the highlights thus far include (but are not limited to):
- being "asked to leave" the bar where we celebrated my birthday because the bouncer found me in the staircase and wanted to know "what drugs is this kid on, someone can't get this f***ed up on alcohol." That night I consumed somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 drinks, but I can't really tell because a pint of lager is more than the standard american drink, and I have no recollection of how many shots everyone bought me post-midnight.
- shotgunning pints of Prazky Czech Lager, the cheapest beer we could find
- teaching people how to play "F**k T-Mac" - let's just say I got a lot of action during that game
- stopping into the only open place in the world at 4:15 for a "nightcap" because my buddy Brian was "thirsty" - a 30 minute wait in line, a political lecture from some smelly old guy from upstate New York/Dublin, a 10 Euro cover charge, and a pint of Budweiser that cost 5 Euro quenched our thirst. (by the way, T-Mac, we saw Noam Chomsky speak the other night - pure Bush-bashing all night. You would have loved it. And by loved I mean wanted to stab yourself in both ears with the nearest sharp object. The people here know more about American politics than I do, it's really strange.)
- hiking several miles in the Irish countryside and visiting a really cool waterfall. Brian, Mike, and E, you would have been proud.

I've spent way too much money and don't know how many drinks I've bought for girls here - I'm such a stud, right? Seabass told me that I should stop buying drinks and just take them to a Tempe Hotel parking lot and "let the magic happen." Pat, the Sorin guys, and the Badin girls are visiting in a few weeks, which should be a really good time.

Well I have to get going and get some groceries and whatnot for the next few days. Full meals are tough to come by, but the other night we cooked some chicken and didn't get salmonella, so I think we might get a little more adventurous as the time moves along.

I hope everything is going really well back at home - I hear the first Dillon hockey game is tonight, good luck boys. I am really going to miss that this year. I miss all of you guys and hope that Sean and Seabass are doing justice to the seats that were vacated by E and I. I'm sure Sebs is, Scallotits on the other hand...

Take 'er easy fellas, and keep the posts coming.

Joe

Hey boys,
Nice work getting the blog going again Tmac and Pat. I tip my proverbial hat to you both. Just a short post here. I'll be in town this thursday the 26th for a final visit and farewell. The thing is, I have a beer league hockey game that night at 9.00 pm that I plan on playing in so I probably won't be getting in until around 1.00 pm barring any OT or shootouts. As that is a rather disagreeable time for me to arrive on a weekend night (for most of you) I don't expect any plan changes from anybody. Besides, what a better way to be welcomed back to ND than by a group of loud drunk bastards storming into the room in the wee hours? E is coming as well, though I don't know if he wants to wait around for me Thursday night. I suppose I could call him or even swing by his house and ask him.

As far as Chilean romance is concerned, I'm living with a 16 year old sister...wish me luck.

Cheers,
Fal

hey guys, im back at school!

the UP

Hey boys,
First off, Mike D, your picture site didn't work for me, though I may have done something wrong. Secondly, I'd like to give a brief update of the Life and Times of Brian Fallon. Today was my last day at Sweetwater Products, where I worked for the last three weeks of the summer making laminated tabletops and office cabinets, desks, and the like. I rather enjoyed the work as far as work goes, met a die-hard ND fan who took me out for drinks tonight. A great perk of the job is that I have piles of scrapped tops at my disposal, all laminated, some edged. I even managed to pick up two custom made office shelves, one black, one mahogany. However, in the three short weeks that I was there, I did not manage to make enough money to pay for my beer for the semester. Therefore, I will conduct a weekly drawing to decide who gets to pay for my beer for the weekend. Please, only one entry per week is allowed. Entries will be accepted starting August 17 at 5.00 PM.

Regarding recreation, tomorrow morning at 8.00 AM I am heading to the UP (that's Michigan for Upper Peninsula {for those of you not familiar with MI geography, that's the small part of Canada that was annexed by Michigan in 1868, seen as a promising investment due to its abundance of a unique sub-species of cotton that grows pre-woven into a thick plaid pattern topped with a bright orange camouflage hat}). As I am yet to begin packing and it's 11.50, I will wrap this post up here. I look forward to the fall. Pittsburgh remains questionable at this point for me.

Cheers,
Fal

Stoked...

Fellas,
I only have one more day of work and 5 more days til I arrive back to the beautiful Notre Dame campus. I will have to cry myself to sleep tonight, but that's alright. Stephen A. and Weis are entertaining, but Holtz is clearly stealing the show. I'm all psyched up again for the football season...at least until Leyhane's constant pessimism gets me depressed again.

As expected, Stephen A. just brought up the "black athlete" quote (I'm Paul Hornug, AAAAG!). The show itself doesn't seem all that appealing...I don't think I'll be watching "Quite Frankly" anymore, unless Stephen A. Smith and Samuel L. Jackson are on at the same time, to see which of them can complete an entire sentence without shouting.

I spent all of last weekend fixing the family computer...something was majorly wrong with it, so after my dad and I spent 20-some-odd hours with tech support doing various things to fix it, I eventually had to uninstall/install Windows XP. Not exactly a fun time, but I got to talk to people from India for around 30 hours, which is its own reward. But it's working now, so I'm happy. Suck on it, you computer science majors.

As for the Pitt thing...I figure that we all give it some serious thought, and then the day before classes, someone walks around and gets a comprehensive list of everyone who wants to go. I figure that August 22nd or 23rd will be not too late to get the tickets...if someone disagrees, let us know and we'll try to work it out from there. Once we have the list, then all we need to figure out is:
1) Tickets
2) Transportation
3) Lodging

Also, if anyone wants to go to the Cubs/Pirates game on Saturday morning, Kevin was bouncing that around.

Alright folks, I'm going to watch the rest of this fine program...I will catch y'all later.

-Angelo

PS: T-Mac, in case you missed my response to your latest comment, I just wanted to let you know that you're a dead man.

It's Postin Time

Hey hey,

As this blog will describe my long weekend in NYC, it could take awhile. Therefore, feel free to kick back with a nice cool beverage and your favorite snack so that you can concentrate your full attention to this blog.

Ok, here it goes...I flew into NYC thursday nite and Joe picked me up from the airport. We then passed Flushing Meadows (where the US Open tennis is played) and Shea Stadium. Once at his house, we played an abundance of EA sports games, only to go to bed past 1am.

Friday morningish we headed to the city via the Long Island Express train, which took about an hour to get to Penn Station. Sidenote: this is a full train station underground for those who dont know- pretty crazy if you think about it. We walked the downtown area of NYC all afternoon from about 1 til 6. We saw the World Trade Center site, along with Wall St., the Stock exchange, statue of liberty, ellis island, etc, etc. Around 6 we went to Little Italy to eat dinner, where joe was scammed at a carnival game set up on the street to pop balloons with darts. He will try to say that he was forced into throwing more and more darts, but i say that he was just plain HAD. However, he did win a small (very small) stuffed dog for his $5, so it was definately worth it in my mind. Then we went to the Yankees game, where the Angels beat them 4-1 in an overall quiet game. After the game, we went up to columbia to meet up with one of my friends from hs. We went to a bar and had a couple beers and then caught the 3am train back to LI.

Since we didnt go to bed til 4:15 saturday morning, I didnt wake up until 12:45, which wasnt too bad because we went to midtown around 4pm that day. We saw the empire state building, central park, 5th avenue, and times square right when it was getting dark. I have to say that all the lights and ads are pretty amazing. We called it an early nite, as we got back to his house around 10pm.

Sunday morning rolled around, and we left for Giants Stadium around 1250, getting there around 230. Our seats for the Chelsea vs. AC Milan match were awesome- 5th row, about 10 seats away from midfield. We saw all teh Chelsea players warm up really close to us. The game was pretty slow in the 1st half, tied 0-0 at halftime. Then the game started to pick up when Drogba just pretty much decided that he was gonna take on 2 defenders and score for Chelsea. Then AC Milan answered when Rui Costa made a crazy play at the top of the 6 yard box. While being pushed off the ball, he got a foot on it and bent it far post, hitting the post and going in. The game ended in a 1-1 tie with no overtime, which was kind of disappointing, but the overall level of play in the game was definately worth my money. John Terry is my new favorite player- a defender for Chelsea. Other notables were Damien Duff, Joe Cole, and Claude Makalele for Chelsea, and Cafu for AC Milan. After the game we went to Nathans Famous for some good hot dogs. I tried matching Kobayashe's mark of 52 hot dogs in 12 minutes, but 2 dogs with fries did the trick.

Monday morning i flew back to indy and then drove up to my friend's memorial golf outing just in time. Golf was OK- we played with 5 girls, so you can just imagine the great level of play there.

I think thats about it. Oh, and yes we do need to get a ticket count for Pitt. See you guys in 3 weeks.

Cheers,
Sean

one more thing

i saw a new movie where jack black takes over an impressionable group of hard-luck teens in "School of Cock." I'm sure he can't host everybody, but we should look into getting our seats together, that would be sweet. also, if we want to go to the pirates/cubs game, we should get the tix at the same time too. he says the pitt website is a rip-off, but i'll pay a little extra for a sure ticket, especially if we get a group together. Let's get a tally up and try to order the tix by the middle of august, to beat the rush:

Brian's email:
Hey guys,I hope everyone's summer is going well and that it isn't like 95 degreeseveryday with 100% humidity like it is here in Pittsburgh. I just wanted toknow if anyone would be interested in trying to go to the Pitt game. It's thefirst weekend after classes start, so it shouldn't be a big deal to head outfor the weekend. Whoever wants to stay at my house probably can. It's not allthat big so it will be pretty tight if a lot of people want to come, butanything is big when your used to living in our dorm rooms. I haven't saidanything to my parents about it yet, but I'm sure it would be okay for whoeverwants a cheap place to stay. I could also check with my friends at Pitt to seeif anyone will have room in apartments or something. Okay I'm rambling on aboutthis, but whoever wants a place to stay should be able to have one. The ticketsare kind of a ripoff based on the Pitt web site. Their season tickets are 40bucks for students, but one ticket to the ND game is 50. They are supposed togo on sale at the beginning of August, but it didn't say exactly when. Wecould get tickets through Pitt for 50 bucks each, try to buy tickets offscalpers, or we could go through the ND lotto. I've never done the ND lotto,so I don't know how likely it would be to get those tickets. Just let me knowif you want to come and what way you think would be best to get the tickets. You can check out the Pitt web site for yourself if you want:

http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/info/tickets/football.asp

peace out boys, i'm off to a week at the beach, but i'll check for posts,
kbraun

blougging, eh?

Gents (even Joe/Sean)-

I have returned from a weekend excursion to beautiful Toronto, in what was my family's first, last, and only foray out of Rochester this summer. While the trip was fun, it also served to reinforce what I already knew: I strongly dislike Canadians.

I went to see the Hockey Hall of Fame with my dad and bro...it's not a bad deal, though there is a distinct lack of anything to do with the Buffalo Sabres. In Canada, there is no ESPN, but they do have a "sports centre"...no exaggeration, at least 3/4 of the hourlong show was about hockey...and they haven't played in like 2 years. Fallon would have loved it. I also caught some of the Italy vs. Canaidia rugby match, as well as some CFL action.

We decided against going to see a baseball game, and instead opted for a family outing to see the Blue Man Group...one of the funniest things I have seen in a long while...it was good stuff. The only problem was that the Canadian folks at the show apparently thought it was a SUB movie...they didn't shut up for one goddam minute. At one point, the crowd is supposed to throw down paper that is being constantly unrolled...this lady in front of me got pissed because I kept throwing paper down at her (which we were supposed to be doing)...she looked French, so I told her to "le chill out". Damn French Canadians.

Alas, I have returned from Canada, and have found out that I am working for the next 3 weeks, outside in the heat, at a soccer camp with little kids climbing all over me and kicking me in the shins. Should be a blast.

One last thing that must be said before I bid you all adieu...Joe, if you have any regard for the rest of the Dillon men, you will not, i repeat NOT smooth things out with Megs until you get back to campus. There is a great deal of unintentional comedy inherent in that situation that all of us do not want to miss. Thank you for your consideration.

-Angelo

it's effin hot out and lance is the man

Hey Fellas,

Well, it is now 95 degrees out with a heat index of 110. And, yes, i still have no AC in my dorm room. Life will be hell for the next two days with relief only coming tuesday night.

Aside from that, i had a pretty good weekend. It was my grandpa's 80th birthday (which in itself is a miracle after living with both heart disease and diabetes in the worst form for over 15 years). My entire family was together for the first time since my sister's christening, which was just over 16 years ago. We took some nice family pictures and then the party began. It started off pretty quietly with everyone arriving. However, once the keg started to be drained (at a pretty quick pace), things got a lot better. Not only did we play numerous games of beer pong with all of the cousins, but we also played flippy cup with 6 people on a side that included some of the older folks. Needless to say, there wasnt a sober one in the bunch around 7pm. I have a feeling i played one too many games of beer pong, as i "fell asleep" around 10pm.

Luckily, i got 11 hours of sleep that nite, so my hangover wasnt as bad as it could have been. Sunday, i woke up just in time to see Lance dominate the last stage and take home #7 in a row. I sure wish my resting heart rate was 32 and that i had a heart 1 1/2 times the size of a normal human heart...that would be sweet. After that, we had to go to my cousin's wedding shower (some real gay thing that both sexes were invited to, although the women did most of the planning). The only highlight of that was when we had to make up stories about the couple using different types of candy. The best line of the day from that was "While brian was trying to get a look at Sarah's Mounds, she quickly glanced down at his whatchamacallit and the junior mints." You probably had to be there, but everyone was crying they were laughing so hard.

Whelp, thats about it. Sorry for the long post, but im bored as hell at work right now and cant do anything until this reaction (which is going for another 25 min ) is done. Next time you will hear from me is after my NYC visit, which will kick all major forms of ass im sure.

Cheers (falcron, i started doing that first, dont steal it),
Sean

well it seems that ship has sailed

Not like that's a big deal or anything cuz, as our good friend Angelo put so eloquently, I have no man parts. But, yes, to the dismay of all of you I am sure, Meg <3 Joe version 2.1 (2.0 being the time before I was "permanently banned from the Kelly household") has been terminated. Just saying that I was actually at one time for two whole days "permanently banned from her house" just kinda puts in perspective the insanity of all that went down in the last 5 months. There are a few wonderful tales to be told about this summer, but as with most stories involving me and a human of the opposite sex (i.e. "hot Laura", "strawberry girl", "crazy birthday whore", and, as Bethany reminded me last night "volleyball girl"), I believe these stories are better suited to be heard rather than read. I'm sure you are all desperate to hear said stories, but you will just have to hold out a few more weeks.

But anyway things on the Island haven't been all that interesting lately. Work is winding down, which is a definite plus considering that, aside from being treated like royalty and not really having to do anything too difficult (sounds pretty good right?), the boredom and the insanely tedious Excel spreadsheet work they've been forcefeeding me because I actually know how to do it is just a total pain in my ass.

OK folks, well I'm heading out - gonna see Meg for the first time post breakup (which happened officially about an hour and a half ago, but emotionally earlier this week) - should be an interesting night. Just gotta keep my mouth shut and my make believe man parts in my pants and I should be A-OK.

Take it easy fellas, enjoy these last few weeks and I look forward to seeing each and every one of you soon.
Joe

Post Cottage Week cont.

Fellas,
Well, as Falcron has already posted, we had a great time in northern Michigan. It was such a great vacation that I am already making plans to take Brian's place at Little Traverse Lake next summer while he is in Chile. I headed up to the lake in hopes to improve on my wakeboarding skills, but the wakeboard and I didn't get along so well. That's alright though, because now I am a bonafide slalom skier and I did a barrel roll while tubing.

If I may, I would like to share my favorite watersports' memory of the vacation. After I had perfected the art of getting up on one ski, Brian decided that we should both get up on one at the same time. Once we did that we decided that the next day we should do something bigger. So the next day we went out on the lake with Greg and his two buddies. After those three put on a show for the other boat on the water by all three slaloming at once, it was time for Cronman and I to put on a show. So we both got up on one and then Bri pulled himself forward on his rope and we cut back and forth across eachother. It was pretty sweet.

Well, I am really starting to feel the crunch time as Frosh-O and the upcoming school year gets closer. I am 3 and a half weeks from moving back in to Dillon Hall. It's going to be good to have the whole crew back together. Sounds like everyone's summers are going well. Later playas!

Mike D

You mean you eat other peoples' lunches?

Ladies, Gentlemen, and those somewhere in between (Sean) -

It has been a woefully long time since I have last posted (or even checked the blog)...it has been a busy time for me; this week, however, I find myself in between jobs (my internship ended last week, and I resume work at the soccer camp next week). My time this week has been mostly spent avoiding the wrath of the parentals, who feel that if they have to work over the summer, then everyone around them should be working as well.

I have kept busy mostly with working out / training with my brother, who has his soccer tryouts coming up soon. Unfortunately, I have developed some tendonitis in my knee...I have tried to "tape an aspirin to it," but that has proved unhelpful thus far. I should rest it, but I have to uphold my honor by accepting the challenges to 1v1 basketball that my brother keeps giving me...he feels that he can now beat me, because he has grown to my height. The problem for me is that while he can dunk, I, with my aging knees, aspire to one day touch the bottom of the net.

The D.C. trip was, as the youngsters say these days, "off the hook". D.C. itself was great (especially with Kev and T-Mac "marking their territory" on the monument grounds), as was seeing T-Mac's workplace (I think I got all I could out of the "this is CNN" jokes). The games were awesome, as was the game of circle of death...I have never seen Pat G. as focused as when he was thinking of names for porno movies (I think that either "assablanca," "hairy pussy and the sorcerer's schlong," or "crouching woman, hidden dong" were the best). We're a classy bunch, as you can see.

I feel the need to rectify a few inaccuracies from previous accounts of the D.C. trip; first, I take no credit for an information in the "group post," that was mostly T-Mac's doing (the rest of us were too preoccupied thinking up good names for porno movies). Second, while I did participate in my first official games of BeerPong, it should be noted that KBraun did the brunt (and when I say 'the brunt', I mean 'all') of the drinking...I was merely there for my superb accuracy and flawless defensive skills (also to save Kevin from having to partner with a kid who looked suspiciously like he might have Hand-of-Dan-like skills at the BeerPong table). I do, however, wish to announce my retirement from the sport; I will go out undefeated and untied, with a flawless 2-0 record (though a Ricky Williams-style comeback might be in order, if the opportunity presents itself).

One more point of business I must address, with the risk of this post reaching Falcron-like length. As you no doubt gleaned from KBraun's most recent post, the incoming freshmen have received their dorm assignments. I feel like it would somehow be wrong of me to mention which dorm my sister was in...suffice it to say that any of you bastards caught in the vicinity of Lewis Hall anytime in the next 4 years will be summarily castrated. (Joe, I know this may seem like an idle threat, but I'll figure out another punishment for you).

Love,
Ange

P.S.: Joe and Sean, sorry for the rips, it is my way of showing rampant jealousy over the fact that you will be attending the Chelsea v. AC Milan game.

P.P.S.: Luke, can you tell me which storage locker we put our stuff in? I, by some miracle, have not lost the key, but I can't recall exactly which number locker it was. Thanks.

Dillon Dillon everywhere

What's up boys,
Dillon has certainly been on my mind for the past few weeks. First there was an absolutely wonderful weekend with TMac, Angelo's sister's brother (that's Angelo, by the way, for those of you who slept through the logic lesson in intro to philo), and Pat G. Let's just say that Angelo was undefeated in beer pong and I have a picture on my camera of TMac peeing on site of a national monument, and about 25 pictures of the Washington Monument. The following week, I finished up at the homeless shelter, and then took a 16-hour Greyhound ride to South Bend. Haircut, Dan, Shady, John, and I had a blast, went to the Indiana Dunes Sunday. Now I'm bumming around the Midwest until Friday, when I'm driving from South Bend to Dallas with Cassie. I'm at Shady's for the next few days (who I have to call 'Steve', which is crazy), the last I'll see him before he goes to India, etc. for the next semester. And finally, I am excited about Dillon for a 3rd reason. My cousin, Dan Braun, just told mde that his freshman dorm pick is 377 Dillon, which is right above us. I am so excited for him. So if any of you see a blond haired kid with a Boston accent and boyish Braun good looks (he'll probably be surrounded by hordes of beautiful women), treat him right.

See you all in a month,
KBraun

Post Cottage Week

Hey boys,
Sadly, Mike Devitt and I have returned from the thrilling week up in northern Michigan at Little Traverse Lake. A little cool, unexpected highlight of the trip: there were otters swimming right out in front of our cottage/cabin/lake house (whatever may be your preference). We could go out at night and listen to them and in the morning to see them. I also bailed on Mike for a morning to go out charter fishing on Lake Michigan. I caught a decent 9 lb king salmon. To my dismay, my old man reeled in the biggest fish at 18 lbs. As was expected, the week was filled with wakeboarding, waterskiing and tubing. However, the both of us eventually parted ways with the wakeboard after a number of bad runs and became much better friends with the waterski. We also had a visit during the last couple of days from Lauren Bugos, known to some as Bugos Bugos, and Brendan Kleiboer, whom some of you may know as Bauer. The tension between the two of them was more than evident. Thanks to that fact there were no run-ins between her and this author. Now I'm back in G-rap and Mike's back in Marion, with our sexy bronzed bods, ready to join the working world once again. I would expect Mike to post soon to fill in any details that I have missed. Hope all is well with everyone at their respective ranches (or military bases or nature preserves).

Cheers,

cron cron

Where boys become men

Well gentlemen, it is time.

On Wednesday I will be shipping off to Tyndall Air Force Base for a month of field training. I just wanted to give you all my address down there if you wanted to send me any inspirational letters so I don't die. I have been told it will not be very much fun. Or at least as much fun as getting knocked out of Thursday poker night first and then say getting kicked in the nuts and then being told you dog was killed by terrorists. I will on the upside come out of it in the best shape of my life and would presently like to challenge Brian Fallon to an arm wrestling competition when I return. That's right, the gauntlet has been thrown down.

I wish you all the best of luck for the remainder of the summer and I hope that all of you, including now Angelo, have a drink in my name on the 30th of July. Since I can't drink on my glorious 21st birthday, you guys should at least. I have the consolation that when I return from camp on the 11th of August and it will only be a week till I go back to campus, and all of you can plan on a welcome back to school / Paul's 21st b-day party. The booze will be on me.

Hold down the fort without me fellas,

Paul

My address (make sure it's exact or it won't get to me):

Cadet Jacobs, Paul, R
AFROTC FTU 2
730 Suwannee Rd. I can only receive flat mail, so just letters and/or pictures (nothing obscene) anything else will be confiscated and I'll just get in trouble (not cool). It's 9:00 am and today is the day that we head north for a week filled with skiing, wakeboarding, biking, skiing, wakeboarding, biking, skiing, wakebo...... I think you all get the picture. Bri and I talked to Pat G last night who is visiting Tommy. He sounded like he was having a good time, as I hope the rest of you are doing. Keep up the good work Thomas and try to get out there a few more times this season.

On a much more serious note, my condolences go out to Mike and his family, I am sorry about your loss.

SO, since I am sure you are all so excited to hear about what's been going on in my life let me tell you. A WHOLE LOT OF NOTHING. Well for the most part. Work is up and down as far as boredom is concerned. The last couple weeks have been pretty good though. Although I have been feeling kinda out of it the last couple weeks - sitting on my ass all day has had some pretty crappy effects on my awesome physique. Plus getting home at 7, eating dinner, and then most likely sitting on my ass a little more because LI can be quite boring at night have led me to realize that LI only seems really cool when you are away from it, but then you realize it really aint all that cool when you are here....

Case in point - so last night, Meg (congrats/I'm sorry to Brian on the Catherine ordeal, I'm not quite sure where he was going with his little P.S. deal there) tells all of us that there is a lifeguard thing going on at some bar in her town. According to her, all you have to do is show an ID that says you are 18 to get in and then they dont care how old you are at the bar itself. Since I am the only semi-valuable member of society among my (for the most part) jobless friends I say I'll be the DD for the night since I have to get up at 6 in the morning. We stroll up to the bar expecting a good time and what do we find out? THEY SCAN YOUR ID TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE 18 and THEN give you a bracelet if you are 21. So we were screwed and all stood around while Meg talked to her lifeguard friends and had them occasionally sneak a few of us a drink or two. It was off the hook.

Another interesting thing was brought to my attention recently - while at a friend's house the great game of beer pong was mentioned in front of his mom, who, to all of our surprises, has never heard of the game. We then asked another friend's dad, who also has never heard, and I asked my mother last night, and, you guessed it, she had not heard of it either. I ask you all to please ask your parents whether they have heard of the game because I kinda figured this game had a little more history behind it than it seems to at the moment. My mom is having a party saturday and I have pledged that I will set up a table in the backyard and will take on all her cool friends.

I know I told everyone a few weeks ago that I was going to be out in some godforsaken place called Itasca, IL. It was a good time, but full of a lot of boring ass insurance information. Nights were OK at best, except for the last two nights we spend in Chicago. The other nights? Well, think O'Neill guys and SMC chicks trying to have a cool party in a hotel with a limited amount of beer.

In the interest of keeping this thing shorter than Fallon's or Callogay's recent posts, I'm going to wrap this thing up. Speaking of Sean, he'll be coming out to visit at the end of July for a few days and I'm sure he'll have all sorts of nice things to say about it when he gets home.

Take it easy people.
Joe

Beer, glass, ravaging, glass, G-Rap, and communicatory schisms

Hey boys,
I figured it's high time I posted, as it's been quite some time since my last. Granted, that doesn't mean anything noteworthy has happened but I did have a great bowl of Apple Cinnamon Cheerios this morning.

I've talked to a few of you about the debacle that is my job situation. For the rest of you, and for those yet confused, I'll give the rundown. Well, it all started off one cool, summer morning. I went to a little company on the corner of Avenues Michigan and Ball named B & B Beer Distributing. They handed me a gorgeous #64 Miller High Life Racing Shirt (complete with the shoulder straps for my racing seatbelt) and a price gun and from then on I was a merchandiser. As I think back, I believe I've posted that story already, so my apologies. To continue, I then interviewed with two "marketing firms" that were convincingly legit enough to cause me to quit the beer job (it didn't take much). Shortly thereafter I learned that both "marketing firms" were door-to-door sales companies. As tempted as I was by the promise these "firms" held for my future, I had to turn the job offers down. So I looked at a calendar and realized there were seven and a half weeks remaining in the summer and I'd be gone for three of them. Realizing that not many companies would hire me for four and a half nonconsecutive weeks, I decided to wash windows (the only logical solution, I know). So here I stand, owner/operator of University Window Cleaning, as anyone who has gotten the voicemail on my new bling (616-648-9111) has already noticed. I started advertising at the end of last week, so I expect the calls to start rolling in any time here.

For the Fourth weekend, I had a nice little family reunion of sorts at Portage Lake, about two and a half hours north of G-Rap, near Manistee, Michigan. It was a nice weekend, though the water was a bit too choppy to do as much skiing as I would've liked (I only got two runs on the ski over the course of three days). Although I did have a nice Dillon Hall moment. We were staying at this small inn/lakeside "resort" that was pretty old school. On Sunday night I woke up to a huge thunderstorm. Then there was an unbelievably loud clap of thunder that sounded like it hit the building, followed by a fire alarm. Immediately I was 8 inches from the ceiling, half-drunk on my extra long twin size mattress with a throbbing headache made worse by the high-pitched squeal that was ravaging my eardrums. Luckily, the fire alarm at the inn didn't have the piercing tone, so at least I had that going for me. I made sure to get downstairs to the front porch with my family, perhaps wearing a shirt, perhaps not, before the RA's and firemen made their rounds. As it turns out it was a false alarm, though not caused by some drunk asshole from Alumni pulling the alarm. Rather, there was an electrical short caused by the lighting that triggered the alarm. It was still quite the nostalgic moment.

I know this saddens all readers, but you won't be hearing from me or Mike D for the next week or so, as we'll both be up in Northern Michigan (three hours north of G-Rap this time) at a cottage that my family rents, skiing and wakeboarding on glassy water until our arms and legs fall off. I'm pretty stoked about that.

That brings me to a question I had been thinking about posing to you gents. Would anybody be interested in making a trip to G-Rap for a day or two to do some waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, and the like for some weekend early in the school year? We should still have our boat in the water for a few weeks into school and the offer is always on the table. I know school is a number of weeks off yet and we do have a football team that plays on weekends, but I figured I'd put the invitation out there.

Hope everyone's summer continues to go well. Until next time fellas.

Cron

PS. There has been a minor development in the situation with the ex-ladyfriend (some of you may know her as Catherine). We had a little talk and decided that it didn't really seem like we were broken up, as we hung out a few days a week. Push came to shove and I haven't seen her or talked to her in about two weeks. I'll keep you posted.

PPS. My apologies for the brutally long post.

quick post

Hey amiguitos,

Just wanted to tell you a quick story about today. I think its pretty funny, but you can be the judge. So we had a cardiac group meeting for all the PhDs on the floor that i'm working on, along with some post-docs. One guy was giving a presentation, and some of the doctors were asking him questions. At the beginning, things were pretty low key, but the questions and comments became more increasingly hilarious. Just to make sure...this was a professional meeting where people present to get feedback on their projects.

So after a couple minutes of questions, one of the doctors, out of nowhere mentions, "So why dont you just put (insert technical name of stain) on there and stain all the motherfuckers?" Later on, one of the PhDs had laryngitis and was trying to help out a bit. After mentioning that one technique wouldnt work because, "it would work for a couple of cells, but you would get a shitload of worthless cells" he asked if another one of the main guys had understood what he had said. The other guy jokingly said, "Not a word," to which the first one gave a muffled, "Fuck you."

After all was said and done, the guy that i work for (most soft spoken, nicest guy ever) said, "Wow, the meetings are starting to get a little rougher." I had a nice chuckle over the whole speech. Maybe it wasnt funny at all and you had to be there. Either way, it was a bright spot in my boring existence at this point.

If all of the above was a waste of your time and way too boring, then i found a $20 bill walking out of the meeting. Fuckers...

Ciao

finally something happens in my life

Hey fellas,

First off, I send my condolences to mikey d. and his family for that rough loss.

So...4th of july weekend was good times at the family cottage about 1/2 south of south bend at "Lake of the Woods". I biked there from my house, which was around 60 miles and took me over 4 hours. Explanation...there was a loose gravel road that i had to ride on for 2 miles that was pure hell, not to mention the slowest ride ever. Also, 3 pee breaks and a calf muscle that went into a tight knot with 10 miles to go made the ride less-than-enjoyable near the end. However, I made it, and that felt pretty good.

The time at the cottage was fun- i got to see all but one of my cousins, and we just relaxed and drank some beers on the dock all the live long day. Sunday nite i went tubing and caught about 8 feet of air and held on. But, i went into the next wave sideways and wasnt so lucky on the landing. I also did a bit of skiing, altho the lake was really choppy. I actually got up on one ski first try. (first time i have attempted since i was 11)

Other than that, not much else is going on. I'm at work right now waiting like always for something to incubate and get finished, etc. 6 more weeks to go. Can't wait for football season. It's just around the corner.

Catch you guys later.

Cheers.

Sad news....

I woke up to sad news this morning. Ted, and my old man

Greetings fine gentlemen of our beloved Dillon Hall.

So, what have I been up to lately you may be asking yourself. Well, in a matter of less than 100 trapping sets I caught well over 600 crawfish, most of which affirmed my original hypothesis that crawfish like to eat fish (yup, scientific, I know). When I havent been canoeing miles upon miles every day, Ive been filling my time with guitar and friends. Now, you'd think that with a 2:1 girl to guy ratio Id be able to pull something off. I, however, am a complete moron and thus, have not.

What I have done is cooked. Ive been cooking alot and Ive made some pretty sweet dinners. Last thursday we had fr. ted over for a birthday dinner. I spent the whole day making baked rigatonni with another and, let me tell you, it was damn good.

The bugs here are absolutely aweful. I went for a run the other day, planning on pounding out a solid 6 miles so Tommy McCall would be proud of me, but I only made it a mile and a halk before I had to turn around because the bugs were so bad, yuk.

Speaking of luck, I have a great Zervoudakis family story to share. So my mom is in this group that plays a game called bunko (its a dice game) every month. The group consists of about 20 middle aged women and they meet every month at someone's house to play this game and generally have an old person party. Anyways, last week was my mom's birthday and it was decided that it was also her month to host bunko. So she's hosting it, its her birthday, and theres 20 married women in our house and what does my dad do? He orders strippers. Thats right, male strippers. The went by the name Vanilla swirl (use your imagination on that one) and totally embarassed the hell out of my mom as all the other women laughed and took pictures. Its probly one of the best tricks my dad has ever pulled, I just wish Id have thought of it.

I got my ROTC news for the summer. Out of over 50 possible locations, I managed to get stationed at the only one I didnt want to go to, Norfolk VA (not exactly Naples, Italy) but Im gonna make do. Maybe Ill get to see Tommy, eh? I have to be there by the 27th and I come back August 15th, so my summer's generally shot. Oh well.

I think thats all for me gents, keep up the good summers and remember, whether youre making counters, moving beer, or sleeping with crack addicts, whatever youre doing, enjoy it. Thats all.

PS-Im hooked on Scrubs, Pat Girouard style. Its really bad bur if anyone hasnt seen it, I highly highly recomend, expecially you silly pre-med kids.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://menofdillon.blogspot.com/2005/06/bugs-fr-ted-and-my-old-man.html' title='Bugs, Fr. I realize I've been a slacker and haven't even checked the blog in weeks, but I'll try to make it up to you. To start off, for those that watch the national news and heard about the huge chemical fire in St. Louis, I was nowhere close to it. Although a friend of mine had a 75 lb. hydrogen canister crash into his back yard and then proceed to burn down his wooden fence. Fun stuff...

I am now getting ready for field training though, which I leave for July 13th. For those that don't know what I'll be doing down at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida, it will be a month of hell. I will be training 7 days a week, with about 30 mins of personal time a day. I will be running somewhere between 40 and 50 miles a week, sometimes with a 30 to 40 lb. pack on my back. I will have the pleasure of eating MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat), which are the equivalent of eating shoe leather, some of which were made around the Vietnam War. And if that wasn't enough I get to spend my once in a lifetime 21st birthday at camp. So instead of doing 21 shots, I'll probably do like 21 laps, 21 sets of 50 push-ups, or maybe if I'm lucky I'll do 21 minutes in the CTA box of doom (don't ask, don't tell). So I have that going for me, which is nice...

Other than that I am now in the search for a new car. My 1991 Subaru Legacy didn't pass the Missouri emissions test, and therefore my car is now technically totaled. On top of that, I was recently grounded by my dad (first time in history). It was a good story though, so I don't mind too much, and besides I'm at my mom's house now. New house, new rules. Ahh the benefits of divorced parents. In any case though, this is how it went down. I was staying at my dad's house because my mom and sister and step-dad were all out of town. Of course therefore I decided to have a party at my abandoned mom's house. I tell my dad's I'm going to my friend Alex's house for a BBQ and then to spend the night, and proceed to prepare for people coming over. About 7:30, around the time I'm expecting people to start coming over, I get a call from my dad.

"Hey there Paul, so you're going to Alex's tonight right?"
"Yeah dad, I'll be going over there soon"
"That's interesting, because Alex is about 50 feet away from me, coming in to the restaurant we're having dinner at...."

Shit....

"Boy dad, I don't know. He told me he might be meeting up with some family friends for drinks. I guess that’s what he's doing"
"Oh, ok...." He didn’t buy it at all, especially when my friend Alex decided to eat dinner at the restaurant.

So needless to say, I got busted hardcore. Although my dad didn’t say anything that night. In fact he let me have the party and didn't confront me until I returned the next morning. Where I was reamed out royally.

So that's what's going on. Since I'm at my mom's though, I am now on my way to kegger at my friend's new apartment. Oh and as far as a Kristin update, she is in Savannah, GA. I probably won't see her till fall break. Thank God...

Well have a great one guys, I hope all of you are doing fine and dandy. I'll get you guys my camp address so you can send me letters if you so choose. I'll be needing support though, so I don't kill myself.

Peace,
Paul

The Scoop

That was Emanuel Zervoudakis seen picking grizzleberries out of his beard on the Northen Michigan set of the upcoming movie, The Greek Version of Big Foot.

A little birdie told me that Brian Fallon has recently shaved his chest hair. Everything has gone pretty well, I don't do too much actual work there, but I have met a lot of the residents and certainly learned a lot. This week, the man who sleeps next to me, Aaron, relapsed into his addiction and for a night I was sleeping next to man high on crack. That is certainly a unique experience for me, though Duffey was pretty weird sometimes freshman year.

Anyway, I've been looking through the pictures on my computer and reminiscing. I have begun work on the Monogram, v. 2.0, an update on the collage which adorned the walls of 242 last year. Needless to say, it's awesome, and it has gotten me very excited for the upcoming year, when we will all dominate the front section of the 2nd floor of Dillon Hall. It will be ridiculous.

I'm also starting to look towards the end of my 8 weeks in Delaware. I was wondering if anyone had plans to go back to campus. I talked to Dan McGee today, and he said he and Kyle Rokita were thinking about making a weekend trip to campus the weekend of July 16. If anyone else could make that weekend, lemme know. Of course, this is very preliminary and we'll see how it all works out.

Finally, there's the DC trip with Angelo to visit the number 4 ranking member of the GOP, W. Thomas McCall. I expect nothing less than using Condoleeza Rice's tickets to the opera Friday night. I belive it's the weekend of July 8th, and I heard whispers that Pat G is coming too? Let me know the latest. Also, I did some schedule checking, and it seems that if this is the weekend, that sneaky Italian bastard Suozzi has found a way to get me to go to an MLS game. This reminds me that I miss the NHL, for the playoff beard and the fact that hockey ensures that MLS or NASCAR or the WNBA or Trick Shot Pool or something will not be considered the 4th major sport. Anyway, lemme know the weekend plans.

Other than that, The Phils are hotter than Lindsay Lohan (as a redhead non-anorexic, of course) and I'm watching the US Open, preparing for a Father's Day outing with my dad, where we average a combined 240. I've heard some crazy family stories in the last 4 weeks, so give your daddies a big hug tomorrow.

2 months til Frosh-O and Dis-O ...

b. hoyte

Though I have many stories that I like to tell, one of my personal favorites has and always will be the time when I delivered a dozen roses to a fine young lady named Monique during Brandon Hoyte's poetry reading. Summer Update: Monique, on her drive from Texas to ND for summer school, will be stopping in Memphis and will be sleeping in my bed tomorrow night. Basically, nothing all that much has been going on. Mostly just work and golf.

The golf game is slowly coming back into form. It had been ugly at the beginning of the season but I have since settled down and stopped telling myself that I was the white version of Tiger Woods. Let's face it, that Nike commercial back in the late 90s, you know the one where everyone says, "I am Tiger Woods" was bull shit. I have been lying to myself for the past 7 years.

Work continues to go well. I really like the guys I work with. We can bullshit for hours about gals, members who piss us off, and the upcoming NFL season all while getting what we need to done, hosting great tournaments, and making bank. The best part is going to the bars after for a coke and a joke. Allthough, cokes have been replaced by beers, jag bombs, and tequilla sours.

Speaking of jag bombs. Spoke with Paul Jacobs the other day and we decided that some night we would instead of kicking things off with a power hour, case race, or something that results in puke on Calloway's floor or back...we would grab a case of Red Bull and a bottle of Jag and go to town. Trust me fellas, the girls look much better after a few bombs.

Speaking of girls. The pool at the country club I work at recently opened and with a few nice days this past week has brought out many a rich babe. By the way, my goal over the next year is to meet girls who have connection to sweet golf courses. I have been perusing facebook already for possibilities. Of course, they cannot be better golfers than me.

Heading to D.C. in a few weeks to visit TMac and another buddy from highschool. I am very much looking forward to the bustling life of the city, classy pubs, and drunken political banters.

Just found out that the course I work at will be hosting the University of Minnesota Athletic Dept. Tourney in Aug. Guests include Lou Holtz, Bob Knight, George Steinbrenner, and other celebrities. I basically cannot wait. Think about it, Steinbrenner wipes his ass with $100 bills, Holtz is an ND legend, and Bob Knight throws chairs. It's going to be great!

I will be busy this weekend with Father's Day and the U.S. Open. One of the greatest times of year, especially when all your Dad wants to do on that day is play an early round of golf and then sit on the couch and watch the final round.

Countdown to the first tailgate... 93 Days.
Countdown to no more Malloy and the real Return to Glory.. 14 Days.

Peaces.

What a week..

Well boys, this week has been the shits. When I got back from AZ, I knew I had brake pads to replace. While inspecting my car, I discovered that I need a new tire. So now I had brake pads AND a tire to buy. But it gets worse. Monday after work I went to the bank to cash my check so that I would have money to buy said brake pads and tire, and what did my idiot ass do? I ran into a freaking phone pole. I wasn't going all the fast, but it was fast enough to make the airbags go off. The pole is in the middle of pavement and is completely unmarked, but I am still an idiot for running into it. I guess that's why they call them accidents. So I got a quote on the damage... the grand total came to $6,000. Most of that was because the airbags went off. It's a good thing I am paying for full coverage insurance on my car. Although I don't want my rates going up any more because they are already ridiculous. I am sure there are going to be some discussions with my parents about it soon. They are just happy I'm alright.

Well, I got my brake pads put on last night and I am going to get a new tire and windshield this afternoon. So slowly everything will come together. Don't worry Falcron, the car will be back together in time for me to come up to the cottage. The bottom line of this whole mess is that all the money I am going to make this summer is going into my car. Unless I get a second job in the afternoon/night. We'll see. I hope nobody else suffers any financial disasters. Later on fellas!

Mike D

I'm Still Alive

Hey Fellas,

Well, I was just surfing a bit on my buddies computer and figured i would look over the new blogs (not many, im disappointed...). I saw Joe mention my absence, so i figured i should explain myself. Well, i left Valpo sunday nite (the 5th) and stayed in a motel that nite. The next morning while my dad moved all my shit into my dorm, i went to my orientation for the internship dealy. After an easy day of work, I came back to find that my dorm is 7 x 10 feet with a bed, desk, and small closet. Needless to say, Dillon freshman doubles seem like castles compared to this shit room.
Well, i get everything unpacked, and i go to plug in the internet cable so that i at least have some way to communicate with the outside world. Well, i find out that i have to access the IUPUI system with a username and password (that comes from being a student there). So...I cant get on the internet until i get that username (still hasnt come yet, and its been 9 days). At that point i didnt have my TV there, so I figured i would just relax and listen to some music on my computer. Well, after about 10 minutes of that, my computer automatically shut off. I turned it back on and it shut right back off. I then go to feel the bottom of the computer and its too hot to even touch it. Yes, my computer was overheating after only 10 min of running. The overheating was caused by the 90 degree heat with 100% humidity. Did i mention that there is no A/C in this room?
So...until i got my tv on thursday, life sucked. I still dont have internet, but ive been able to survive using the lab computer 5 minutes at a time. Work is going well. It's really really laid back, and i was in the lab building (work and research talks) for a total of 25 hours the first week. This week ive worked 2 1/2 and 3 hrs the two days so far. Luckily i get paid the same no matter how much i work. The work is overall boring, and i would never want to do it for a living. But, all the guys that are there are rediculously smart, and i feel like a complete moron all the time (anything new?)
Ive started to bike again, although its really hard to find places to go without roads and traffic. I found a trail that goes 14.5 miles one way, but i still have to cross streets every 1/2 mile or so.
No hook up stories yet, although there are (2) good looking girls out of the 20 or so total in the program. They are no HRed, but i cant have everything. There is one girl who's gonna be a senior at ND who is real smart and knows ND football almost as much as me and Pat; however, she is uglier than a mud fence. Why does that always happen?
Oh, one funny thing that happened today while i was looking to buy an iPOD (I finally bought a 20GB one later that day) was taht i was waiting on the corner to cross the street and some black guy came up to me and gave me a business card for perfect 10 modeling. He said that one of the girls he was with spotted me and thought i should interview for a modeling position. If you arent laughing yet, I am very sorry. It is a true story, but i had a good chuckle from it. I'm pretty sure that there is no way in hell that im good looking enough (to anyone other than joe) to be a model. Oh well...
I think thats about it for now. Hopefully i can get my internet connected before this weekend. If not, im going home anyways this weekend, so ill make sure to post or talk to you folks. If you guys really need to talk to me, just call my cell (219-242-1196). Other than that, Joe's comment about Mr. Maher was absolutely hilarious.

Keep it sleazy

P.S. SO since my last post I've been pretty busy, and I have to say that my summer has been going pretty well thus far. A couple weeks ago I played a round at Bethpage with some buddies - of course it was not the Black Course where they played the U.S. Open a few years back and will again play in 2009 - but it's a beautiful facility and we all had a great time with our +30 scores haha. I'm very sorry to Mike, T-Mac, and Pat for referring to what I did as "playing golf" because as they all learned back in the Fall, i'm not much of a "golfer" and calling it that is a knock on the sport.

I've noticed the troubling trend here of mentioning hook-ups or the lack thereof - if it will help the team's batting average, I haven't struck out yet this summer...but I don't know if mine really count? Let's leave them as sacrifice flies for now in keeping with Mike's baseball analogy. And yes, Luke, Sean, and whoever else Luke ran his stupid Kansas-bred mouth off to, I am allowed in the house. If you want to know to what I am referring, just talk to our Pangborn ambassador to Dillon Hall, Mr. Maher.

I started working this past week with Arthur J. Gallagher in NYC and it's been pretty sweet so far. Tomorrow I am flying out to Chicago for a week of orientation at the company's headquarters in Itasca, Illinois. It sounds like it's a good time to be had by all and everything I buy next week will be paid for by the company - I'll be eating well to say the least. Highlight of the week though - Thursday night we all went out to this Irish pub around the corner called Connolly's for happy hour - $3 dollar bottles of Miller Light or, Pat's favorite, Bud Select. So the other interns and I hung out for about an hour buying everyone a round each before the rest of the office came in to celebrate someone's birthday. Let's just say that an office tab at a bar is the coolest thing I've ever seen - free beer boys, and it was the good stuff too. Unfortunately for one of my fellow interns, free booze is too attractive to realize what you are doing, and getting drunk in front of your new office mates is a bad thing - especially when it leads to walking into the lady's room and bumping into a woman from work who just finished her "business" (get it?) coming out of a stall. I wasn't there to see it though cuz I left before I could be associated with such shenanigans.

Went to see Keane play at Radio City the other night - needless to say it was off the meat rack. Oh yeah, I saw a replica of Sean's favorite Howard woman today - Hideous Red! Almost got in an accident because of staring in awe at her while driving, but it was worth it. And speaking of how hot some things are, the city has been hotter than the thought of Zo and Becca getting it on - you can't even just stand still for 10 seconds without sweating your ass off.

OK well it looks like I didn't really have much to say after all, but the summer is going great so far and I hope the same can be said for each of yours. Unfortunately I do not have any hilariously awkward "(insert word here) girl" stories yet a la volleyball girl, strawberry girl, or hot laura, but I am sure that a week in a hotel in Chicago may change that. Cross your fingers fellas, and I just may make a fool of myself and have the balls to tell you all about it.

By the way, has anyone heard from Calloway this week? I know he was heading off to Indy last week, but I figured he'd have posted something by now to report on what he's up to down there. Alright folks, time to hit the sheets - my climb up the corporate ladder continues tomorrow morning. Makin' legal tender ain't easy.

Take it easy boys,
Joe

One more day...

Well boys, I have two things to report. First thing, I am down to one more day in the Arizona countryside. It has been nice, but it will be good to be in the midwest again.

Second, I can officially say I had a summer hook-up as of this past Friday night. To put it in the smallest amount of words possible: we made out in her car. So chalk one up for the good guys. I hope that this will be the big base hit with two outs in the bottom of the ninth that gets us going. I expect to hear good things from you men. Yesterday (Friday) i had my last cleanout job of a family who got evicted from a really nice home. While rooting through the guy's personal shit (hey, it's legal for us to do that), we found out that the guy owned a yacht company but only declared that he made 15K a year on his tax forms. Whoops, the IRS doesnt like that, especially when they are owed over 186K. After that, we hung out downtown, drank 30 year old crown royal, and heckled all who walked by. Then when everyone else was trashed (I had stopped alot earlier so i could drive home) we played quarter tossing where you toss a quarter toward a line and the closest to the line wins all the money. Well, my soberness helped out, and i won $30 playing $1 games. To top off the nite, Pat G. called me and we discussed the new news of ND football (what else would we talk about?)

Today (Saturday) i went shopping for some clothes and for a shitload of food. Sam's Club is officially the coolest grocery store ever. Who knew you could buy Nature Harvest bars in boxes of 70. Hopefully i get everything packed up by tomorrow because my dad and i are heading down there in the evening. I dont wanna jinx anything, but i'm calling a summertime hook up. We'll see if i pussy out like usual...

Smell ya later

In G-Rap and loving it

Hey boys,
Fal here, coming to you LIVE from the beautiful city of G-Rap, MI. As awesome as life is here, not much of anything has been going on. I'm working as a merchandiser for a beer distributing company (sorry Paul, we do all Miller products and as a collective group hate Budweiser and all of its distributors as well as employees of the aforementioned). I'm sure you're all wishing you were me with a cool job title like "merchandiser" but in reality it means I stock shelves and carry a price gun around tucked into the back of my pants (although my shirt is a very stylish "Miller High Life Racing #64). So don't blow those candles out just yet, because all you get is a sore back and tons of cardboard cuts. Also, I enjoy looking at the passers-by in the stores about as much as I enjoy watching Shaquille O'Neal play basketball. On that note, the Pistons sure could use a win, eh? I've watched every game so far and watching two consecutive games is like a day in the life of a manic depressive. No worries though, Chauncey and the boys will get it done.

On the subject of hookups, I want to extend my enthusiastic support in the direction of Mike Devitt's current pursuit. As he mentioned, I have seen her and she is rather to very attractive. Go get em slugger. That support also extends to E's suggestion concerning the card that Mike should play in this passionate, though often puzzling, game of Euchre. On this end of town, I am actually in quite a different situation. I am currently in the process of keeping my Dockers securely in place, and not just to keep my price gun from falling to the sticky tile floor of your friendly neighborhood Meijer, if you know what I mean. So far things are going as planned. I wouldn't even say that there have been any close calls, which is a plus. Luckily, the old flame is on the same page, making her much less of an agressor. If instances should occur, I can assure you all that not a one of you will hear a word of it from me, as I will be hiding out in shame, trying to salvage what pride, manhood, and class I might have left at that point.

On a different note, I just had my weekend on wednesday and thursday (seems to be how it'll work with this "merchandising" business) and spent the larger part of both days on the boat and loving every second of it. Gast came out yesterday, along with Brendan, Starmock, Catherine, and another chap by the name of Mike Emiley. Gast is quite the skier, I came to find out, as well as the best first-time wakeboarder I've ever had the honor to tow around the lake. Bauer was our first wakeboarder of the day and he entertained the crowd with a pretty nasty faceplant. Not to be outdone, Starmock went out, got a bit ahead of himself, and tossed one of the most unbelievable faceplants in my short history at Murray Lake, surfacing red-faced with eyes barely able to open. Noticeably agitated after being ousted from the podium, Bauer decided to have another go at it in order to test the efficiency with which the human eye socket transports lake water to the back of the brain cavity. He realized that the answer was not without significant pain surging through the entire body. However, he only managed to share the podium with Joe, as the sight of a 210-lb guy with eyes wide open and hands tossed above his head was pretty tough to beat.

Well, I'm off to keep an eye on our new dog outside (he's a cockapoo named Bandit). A bit of a spaz that likes to shit on green carpet. Enjoy your respective summers.

Fal

underc, mi...the middle of effing NO-WHERE

First off, let me be the first to ardently applaud mr devitt. Arizona has been treating me pretty well. Work isn't all that bad. The weather has been absolutely beautiful. I am starting to get a little disappointed that I have to leave in 8 days. I am really starting to enjoy myself out here.

I also might as well share that I have been able to enjoy the company of a lady these past few days. A certain front desk girl at my hotel happens to be quite cute and single. Brian met her when we came out for spring break. And Seabass, I am sure you would be glad to know she is of latin decent. So I took her out this past weekend and we have hung out a couple times since. I can't officially report it as a summer hook-up, but there have been a few good night kisses.

Well boys, I need to get to bed because it's an early rise for work.

Mikey D

Overland Park, Kansas - Home of Awesomeness

So I'm jumping on the "Posting Now Because I Haven't Posted In a While" train.
My job at Cerner Corp starts on Tuesday. I took a test-drive up to North Kansas City (where Cerner is at) just to make sure that I know where I'm going...it took a nice 45 minutes. So that means I'm looking at a nice 45-minute minimum drive every morning and evening for work. The Impala and I will be getting pretty close as the summer heats up. The drive would be a lot shorter if they hadn't just closed a major downtown bridge for the summer and created mass chaos across the Metro Area. On the bridge's last day of operation, Fallon and Brandon actually crossed it on their trek out of the city (after they'd had more than their fill of KC BBQ at the famed Bryant's Barbeque)...just a little FYI.
No big lady stories yet. We'll see what I can drum up at the new job. Heck, once I start making some scrilla (also known as 'kwon', chingaling, scratch, green, and what I pay Mrs McKenna for a job well-done), I'm sure the ladies will be all over me.
Sebass - I couldn't stop laughing/feeling bad after reading your job story. I feel partially responsible for your situation. After all, if it wasn't for my guidance through your phone-interview process, who knows if you would be where you are now....one can only wonder. If I were you, I'd err on the side of not killing anyone.
Alright, that's it from here. Remember - To make an omelet you've gotta break some eggs.

Pretty sure I have turned Mexican...

Hey fellas,

Figured i should post a somthing since i havent done that in awhile. I'm still working hardcore. We had a cleanout job of an old lady's apartment after she died. Found some pretty cool shit that included and original Salvador Dali etching and a few Joan Miro prints personally signed by him. Aside from that, I havent killed any helpless water dwelling beasts since the first week of summer. I'm also doin landscaping at my grandparents house to make it look awesome (put in a 9 1/2 hr day today). Although ive been workin my balls off, i kind of like it. I'm not sitting on the couch and getting fat. And, i'm makin some pretty good coin pronounced "kwon" (as joe would like to put it). I have one more week until indy, and i'm lookin forward to that. Off to the family cottage this weekend. Joe: Yes i am going to get drunk with my family and yes it is a good time. Thats all for now. Hopefully everyones summer is going well so far. Oh, and Seabass, your comment of Thomas McBastard made me laugh at the computer screen like a complete idiot.

The sun is finally shining...

I finally realized why I love my summers so much.

1. Work: I guess you could call it that, but a more appropriate name may be sit around on a computer all day and boss around little caddies. I have officially become the best web searcher in the business. Some say I am able to find stock quotes from local sports radio websites. This is an understatement of course.

2. Golf: I play for free. Working at a golf course definately has its perks. Free golf and pimp ass golf outfits being several. Look for me strolling the quad next fall in Greg Norman pants, Polo shirts, and Bobby Jones vests. Of course I will be on my cell phone Joe McKenna.

3. Living away from home while at home: Basically I get to hang out with friends, drink nightly, and not worry about waking up my parents late at night as I try to find my way to my bed. Additionally, I am still able to go home for meals and laundry. Think of it as a permanent sleepover with your own room.

I have also started a workout regimen. This is something I do not enjoy doing but feel it is a must in order to continue my friendship with Angelo.

Back to back OC Reruns start tonight for those who missed season 2.

Carla was the Prom Queen

Gents-

Just finished a quick run, wanted to get a "blog" in...the next few days will be busy with work/visiting relatives in Buffalo. So a few quick rants:

1) Kev, what's with the Cage bash? I mean, feel free to mock our sexual proficiency, but please, leave Nic out of it...any man who can make quality flicks like "Snake Eyes" and "8mm" should have immunity from such cheap shots.

2) T-Mac, you're coming dangerously close to TJ-like levels of sister-bashing...and trust me, you don't want me to do to you what I did to TJ. It involved a broomstick and a gag ball. And he enjoyed it. Seriously though, let me know how D.C. goes, maybe I'll come down (sans sister, however), if I get a chance.

3) On that note, the Pres himself was in Rochester (KBitch, not only do we have a AAA baseball team, but we get presidential visits)...I was at work when he landed, but I saw some of his speech...typical stuff, but people were going nuts...closing off streets and stuff.

4) As much as I like hearing about how warm it is where all of you hail from...please, for the love of God, stop. It was...42 degrees today. The high tomorrow is 41. The ladies are bundled up (think ND campus in the middle of winter)...not good times. It's almost freakin' June. I need a road trip or something.

5) Hopefully some people saw the Contender tonight...truly one of the good shows out there. Unfortunately the folks at NBC decided to put it Sunday nights at 8:00 (crazy fucked-up land time, or "Eastern Time", if you will), against the Simpsons, effectively killing it for our demographic... still though, it's the best show that I've seen in a while. No councils or crap like that to eliminate people...they go through a show training and stuff, and at the end they just fight. Hopefully they'll have it again next year...not since My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss (and N. Paul Todd) has there been higher-quality television. Plus Sly Stallone is there. Can't beat that.

6) The W. Sox took care of business with the Cubs ...there were some issues with some controversial calls...I think the real issue was that Dan Carter made the call, but the Cubs did not accept it...and then John and Ozzie went ballistic.

7) Well, this is approaching TMQ-levels of length, so I will call it a night...hope all is well with everyone, and give me a ring if you're in Upstate New York (though I wouldn't recommend it). Later boys.

-Ange

Hablas Espanol?

hey folks, seabass here, walking in memphis, and damn what a walk this is going to be.
Lesson 1: Under the 'Skillz' section of your resume, only put things you are ready to demonstrate fully to a new employer
Case in point: I landed a sweet internship at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis for the summer and the lady in human resources told me I was going to be working in the Behavioral Medicine department. Nice, behavioral medicine, not sure what it means, but sounds just fine. After a six hour individual tour of the hospital (which was supposed to take an hour) led by a 50 year old black woman who started holding my hand halfway through the tour, I was introduced to my boss, Mr. Friedman, coordinator of interpreter services. Turns out behavioral medicine is the department that the hospital puts random things that don't belong anywhere else. More importantly, you are speaking to the newest St. Jude medical interpreter for hispanic families. I figured that ND Spanish 202 more than qualified me for putting "proficient in spanish" on my resume and didn't think they would actually take me seriously. Well, saying Hola como estas? to your fellow classmates is a tad different than when the doctor tells you to explain some life or death matter with medicines and all these words that nobody knows even in english. i.e. i am pretty sure I am going to kill somebody by the end of the summer by telling them the wrong thing. Job security might not be so hot right now, but it is really fun meeting all the families and the doctors.

In other news, Memphis is teeming with hot babes.
Lesson 2: make sure you turn your phone off during romantic moments
Case in point: A girl here made me dinner (pork chops, my favorite) while I sat back and drank a bottle of champagne. After dinner and some excellent conversation, we retired to the couch. Right as she turns on Barry White "Love Serenade" and pulls out the chocolate covered strawberries, leave it to Thomas McBastard to call me, creating a very disconcerting vibration in my pants. The moment was ruined.

Miss you guys already, come visit Memphis. Hopefully I'll have some pictures for next time.
Have fun Adios! -Seb

Somebody's got a case of the Mondays....

Men of Dillon,
It looks like everyone is having a pretty good summer thus far. Arizona is treating me alright. I'm working 6 days a week, but it will be worth it once I see that first paycheck. I got to play two rounds of golf this weekend. If that pace keeps up, I will play 7 rounds of golf in the 3 weekends I am here (since I get Memorial day off). It has been ridiculously hot out here. upwards of 107 since Thursday. It might be a dry heat, but it's still really really hot.

So I have no hook up stories to report, but speaking of girls, I have a little story mainly directly to those crazy kids from SUB. Marissa who works the front desk at the hotel (Falcron, you know who I'm talking bout) has a friend who informed me that she calls Marissa what else but..... assiram. I'm sitting in my basement preving between the Phils game and VH1 when I see that "Afternoon Delight" by the Starland Vocal Band is the number 34 One-Hit Wonder in the history of music, and won Starland Vocal Band 2 Grammies. Cush's Grammy is coming next fall.

T-Mac, I'm gonna be spending most of my summer in Delaware, and DC is between there and my brother's place in southern Maryland (Patuxent River, one of the military bases that Rummy hasn't axed ... just messing with your Grand Ole Party, and yes, I'm wearing flip-flops as I type this). Point being, if I can work out a weekend to visit him, I would love to spend a Friday night in our nation's capital with my favorite Cajun.

CJ, I will never go near that hellhole of New York again, and, to clear up your mistake, you were at a Phillies game Friday in Baltimore. A game which the Phils won (as they have 4 of the last 5, I might add).

I've been keeping myself busy by trying to finally watch the Star Wars movies ... one down, five to go. I give the first (fourth) one a B+, not as much action as I anticipated, but it sets the table well for some drama in the future. Sorry if I offended any geeks out there.

By the way, when thinking about people going abroad and not seing certain people for a whole year, the idea has been hatched to have a New Years '06 extravaganza in some central location to re-introduce those abroad in the fall to America and to say goodbye to those leaving us, and to have a sweet party for those who are staying in South Bend. Toss some ideas around in your heads ...

KBitch

dae-sung koooooooooooooooooo

just got back from the Mets v. Yanks game - pretty sweet game and if you saw any of it you will know what the title of this "post" is all about. It was actually my third game in 3 days - went down to T-Mac's future stomping grounds and caught a Nats game Thursday (got upgraded to the President's Suite for the night which was pretty damn nice) and then took the short trip from D.C. to Baltimore for an O's game last night. Otherwise not too much going on. I'll be starting up work in NYC in a couple weeks, but a plan is in the works to possibly visit Cooperstown sometime next week with some buddies.

Congratulations to Mr. Calloway on getting a pimped out ride - damn i miss that kid. And what the hell was Fallon thinking stopping in that God-forsaken piece of land known as Kansas? Glad to hear that most of you fellas seem to be enjoying that starts to your respective summers. Gotta run out to get some food now. Everyone enjoy your weekend and stay the hell away from Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy - quite possibly the biggest waste of $9.50 ever conceived.

If any of you are up in the NY area or would like to visit this overpopulated paradise we call Long Island let me know, you are all always welcome. It's a black 2000 Grand Am GT, and i'm pretty happy with it. The auction was pretty crazy. All the used car guys are about 60 and all of em smoke like chimneys. The amount of bullshit at that place could fill Notre Dame Stadium. Aside from that adventure, i got my place to stay set at IUPUI for my internship. I checked out the dorm room, and its actually crappier than a freshman double in Dillon. If anything else groundbreaking happens, the Men of Dillon blog will be the first to hear. For those of you who missed the episode or frankly don't watch the show, it was drama at its finest. We had a funeral, a trip to rehab, a marriage renewal, a cocaine deal, and a possible murder (cliffhanger) all in 43 minutes. Boy, do I love the Fox Network. Can't wait until next fall.

I am officially moved into my pad on the West End of St. Paul, the neighborhood is eeriely similar to Chino. I have been mainly hanging out in my room with buddies. There is a nice couch, cable TV, PS2, and a nearby fully stocked fridge.

Fallon and I had a nice time with Badin girls. We played Trivial Pursuit and got drunk off nice beer at Ally's cabin. I am making it a rule that we play this game once a week next year as it is amazingly fun and surprisingly enough, easier while drunk.

Back to work.

PG

Angie's Update

Gentlemen-

The parents and the sister were gone for the weekend to Washington D.C. (too early for T-Mac to be there, unfortunately, or maybe fortunately), and with the house all to myself and my brother over the weekend, I did...nothing. (Damn this "responsibility" stuff).

So then my sister gets home a couple of days ago from Washington, and she had won some national Economics thing (at least one Suozzi is good at business)...which netted her 7 grand in scholarship money. This inevitably led to the parentals grilling me on what I had done lately to help the costs of schooling...and then they told me to go get a job.

Along those lines...I started an unpaid internship last week; it's a pretty good deal, working about 25 hours a week at a law office in the city (yes K. Bitch, my city does have a AAA baseball team; the Twins' farm team, in fact, which explains why they suck at life...speaking of baseball, I can't find my glove; I wonder if Duffey struck again).

I'm basically the errand boy ("bitch," if you will) for these lawyers...but they have me doing research, which is pretty interesting. I just can't wait for the day that I'm doing research, and I see the case of [M. Barton v. P. Girouard], on the matter of stalking and indecent exposure.

Oh, Chris wanted to know if anyone is missing their Simpsons Season 2 DVD's...he took them home with him, and they are not his. If you know of anyone who is missing theirs, let me know. And Kev, I don't know who has your basketball...I remember it not being in your room for a couple of weeks before school ended, I went in to borrow it and couldn't find it.

Alrighty gents, that about does it for now...hope everyone is having a more exciting summer than me (and I hope the weather's better...it was a high of 45 degrees here yesterday). I got up this morning at 3:00 am Phoenix time. We flew into Minneapolis/St. Paul and then caught our next flight to Phoenix. Pat, I thoroughly enjoyed your airport.

No bald eagles were flying around or anything like that when I arrived in Phoenix, but I did see something interesting today. Recently, a Phoenix police officer was shot and killed while making a traffic stop. Today was his funeral and traffic was stopped on the interstate for about 10 miles and a procession of probably 4000 polices cars drove by. It was an unbelievable sight.

Well boys, it's been a long day. Needless to say, its awesome. Most importantly my bed is very comfortable. Hopefully this fact will come in handy later in the summer as a smooth pick up line, though I have little faith in its effectiveness.

After the 11 hour drive (Im not complaining, I love road trips) we went grocery shopping, which was an adventure to say the least. If you want a challenge try grocery shopping for 8 guys for a week when you hardly know any of the guys. It was fun. Needless to say we bought beer.

Today were touring the property which should be fun. Its mighty chilly here and there arent even leaves on the trees yet, dersh.

No summer action to report as of yet but said line should be used in the near future.

Fal, have fun in MN with PG and BB, especially BB. For those of you that don't know, the car Fallon was in was the car that his buddy Brendan's family just bought from his uncle in California. I am going to have to give Brendan and Falcron a call to hear about this one.

Anyway, the true reason behind this post is to break the news that I won't be spending my entire summer in Arizona after all. My dad broke me the news that Hartson Kennedy is going to let him spend the summer at home instead of in Phoenix. I am still heading out there on Tuesday, but my dad and I will come back to Marion in June for the rest of summer. Apparently I have a job secured at the Marion plant for when we come back. I will bet anyone that my first job is to sweep the light fixtures in the plant. There is no doubt in my mind.

No summer hook ups to report just yet. I did see a couple of ND girls this weekend up in Fort Wayne though. I doubt that counts for anything, but I thought I would mention it. He indicated that his 2005 Summer Tour would be stopping in KC, and I offered to let the gentlemen rest at my shanty. As we were speaking on the phone, I heard a loud thud on the other end -- a car rear-ended the car that Fallon was in, and took off (hit and run). Crazy happenings.
Anyway, Fallon is currently crossing the Colorado-Kansas border and will be arriving in Kansas City late this evening. Since he'll only be here a short time, I won't be able to show off Kansas City in all its glory. No visits to THE University of KANSAS, no Royals games...just a nice trip to one of KC's fine BBQ establishments and a tour of the Maher compound.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summers, and just like Fallon, you're all welcome at my house anytime.

Mischa Barton

Falcron,

If you see my gal out there, let her know I'll be out in The OC in late November, 2006. It is the first of several men's guest days at St. Paul's oldest golf club. The weather...a saltry 45 degrees and misting. We'll see how many guys bear the elements.

This is my earliest blogging time ever. I feel somewhat proud and also a little ashamed.

Twins lost last night as they blew a 6-2 lead. I hate it when managers leave starting pitchers in too long.

A visit from Fallon and Badin girls awaits next week. The forecast should be nicer but I don't see any immediate water sportage on the horizon. I will be moved in to my place by then and debauchery is sure to follow. Expect several blogs ranging from Fallon's inaugeral hookup with Lauren Bugous Bougous to late night Taco Bell runs. Unfortunately, the work schedule sucks and Falcron will have to stay occupied for several hours (Badin girls should help).

Back to work. The men are starting to gather.

Bagger Vance (This is my handle on my other blog and it will be so here)

I need a list of guys to add to this ASAP. I flew out here earlier tonight right smack into the heart of the OC, bought the ticket on 10 hours notice. Tomorrow I'm off to drive back with a high school buddy all the way from California to Chicago from whence I head to Minnesota to see ol' Patty G. So don't be alarmed if I call you from the middle of butt f'ing Nebraska. It's going to be a long ride.

Things are just great in Michigan. The Tigers took a series from the Rangers, which was nice. However, my Pistons didn't share the same fate, as they went down 2-1 to the debacle that is the 2004-5 Indiana Pacers with a 79-74 loss tonight. Have no fear Edward, for the Bad Boys from the Motor City will get it back.

Hope all is well from each man's respective corner of our beloved country. Monday in a week I'm getting started with my service gig, spending 8 weeks at a homeless shelter in Wilmington, DE. Weekends are free though, so I can rush home and check these posts. Angelo, I challenge you: does your "city" have a minor league baseball team? The Lancaster Barnstormers are in their inaugural season, I just got back from one of their games last night. Those games are much better than the "major league" crap the Phillies are playing ... they're horrible. By the way, Angelo, cows are everywhere now, it's hard to drive, you have to constantly swerve to avoid them on the road.

Look forward to hearing about everyone's summers, don't hold your breath on romantic activity at the homeless shelter ...

Peace,
Kevin

Angelo, I almost forgot: did you end up with my basketball at the end of the year? Since i'm gonna be home for just a month, i got a job with a family friend who owns a pest control company. Luckily, he got 3 beaver jobs and 2 muskrat jobs just when i got home, so....put two and two together and you get 12 beaver and 2 muskrat caught so far (yes they are all dead, and we had to "help" a couple of them with a little thing i like to call a .22). Aside from that, i'm doing less-than-hillbilly things like sleeping and trying to be social with the few friends that actually came home this summer from wherever they go to school. That's aboot it for right now. I get my new car next wednesday, with a most-likely humerous blog to follow its purchase.

So I caught a raccoon today.

It seems like blogging is going to be a popular method of keeping in touch this summer, considering this is the second one I'm a part of. It seems as though it will be a pretty good way for all of us to keep in touch.

Work hasn't started for me just yet. This week at home with nothing to do but unpack has left me feeling about as worthless as one can. I leave for Arizona on Tuesday and will probably start working on Wednesday. Let the ching start rolling in.

I wouldn't expect too many random hook up storied from yours truly. Although, as Falcron would know, there seems to be a certain front desk worker at the hotel I'm staying at that might offer me a chance. If you want to know the full story (which is kind of amusing) just let me know. I will most likely be bored to death when I am not working. Have a great summer guys, I love you all!
-PJ

Rainy Day in St. Paul

Boredom has set in at the Town and Country Proshop as not a sole is on the golf course. The weather is a balmy 35 degrees with wind chill around 25 and steady rains.

I have decided to set up this blog in order to stay in touch over the summer. I was unable to add everyone who I wanted so if you guys have some more men to add let me know.

The Twins are currently 4.5 games out of first, trailing the White Sox. I predict that upon my arrival to South Bend the Twins will have a 8 division lead.

The O.C. has two episodes left. Tonight's should be a classic as Kirsten struggles with alcohol (I know the feeling) and Marissa copes with attempted rape by a male (Fallon knows the feeling). Do not even think about calling me between the hours of 7 and 8 CST.

I move into my house this weekend. Whoever is heading through the cities this summer needs to stop by for a Frothy beverage and some BBQ (not PDiddy style as there will be no pulled pork, only red meat)

No hookups thus far. Not sure what direction I want to go in this summer. Old flame? Detour? New terrain? Need some advice.

Back to work. Let the blogging begin.
